LIVE Radio The Caribbean Sound
As every year, on the occasion of Creole Month “Mwa Lang Kréyol La²”, the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique (CTM) celebrates and promotes the Creole language in all its dimensions.
For the 2025 edition, the CTM is strengthening its commitment by focusing on passing the Creole language on to younger generations through a renewed partnership with schools and the launch of participatory initiatives. A highlight of this edition is the “Ki Matjoukann Pou Manmay Lékol³” initiative, which brings together all initiatives aimed at Martinique’s students, whether or not they are enrolled in the Creole language option.
Throughout the month of October, the CTM offers a rich and diverse program across its cultural and heritage sites, open to all: conferences, round tables and literary encounters, guided tours in Creole, discovery and intergenerational transmission workshops, live performances (theatre, storytelling, slam, music), film screenings, exhibitions, Creole dictations, as well as fun and heritage-based activities.
Supported by several cultural partners, this new edition is aimed at all audiences (students, families, linguists, culture enthusiasts, or the simply curious), and highlights the creativity, memory, and ingenuity of the Creole language.
The official launch will take place on Wednesday, October 1st, with a festive and participatory day offering participants the chance to explore the richness of Martinican heritage and culture through a variety of activities:
Facilitators: Mr. George-Henri Lagier, Mr. Merine, Mr. Attely, and two young yole practitioners. Registration required, 40 spots available.
