Today, Wednesday October 21, 2020, Saint Lucia confirmed one case of COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to thirty-eight. The individual is a 53 year old female from Gros-Islet. She was identified during the contact tracing process as linked to cases thirty-three, thirty-four and thirty seven. As such, she was tested and placed in quarantine.
Tuesday October 20, 2020, The Ministry of Health has received confirmation of one new case of COVID-19. This brings the total number of cases to thirty-seven (37). The individual is a 43 year old male from Gros-Islet. During the contact tracing process he was identified as linked to cases thirty-three and thirty-four and was tested and placed in quarantine.
Over the last 9 days, the Ministry of Health received confirmation of eight new cases of COVID-19. These were COVID-19 cases number 29 to 36. Given the professions of these cases and the social activities which they undertake a wide contact tracing and testing intervention is being undertaken.
Sunday October 18, 2020 the Ministry of Health received confirmation of three new cases of COVID-19; cases 34, 35 and 36. Case 34 is a 21 year old male, the son of COVID-19 case number 31, the 47 year old male from Castries who was diagnosed on October 14, 2020.
Friday, October 16, 2020 the Ministry of Health received confirmation of another case of COVID-19 bringing the number of confirmed cases to date to thirty-three. The individual is a 62 year old female who works at the educational institution which case number thirty-two attends.
Friday. October 16. 2020 the Ministry of Health received confirmation of one new case of COVID-19. The individual is a 14 year old male, the son of the recently diagnosed cases 30 and 31 from Castries. The individual was swabbed following the diagnosis of his parents and placed in quarantine given his high risk of exposure to the virus.
The Prime Minister has activated the National Emergency Management Advisory Committee (NEMAC) which will hold a special meeting this afternoon. Prior to the NEMAC meeting the Cabinet of Ministers are meeting to discuss Saint Lucia’s current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
