Schedule for COVID-19 Vaccine second doses

Written by on April 20, 2021

Saint Lucia has commenced Phase Two of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign. During this phase, people at medium risk of being exposed to COVID-19 are being targeted for vaccination. This includes people who work within commercial, tourism, education and transportation sectors.

Based on guidance from the World Health Organization on the protocol for administering the AstraZeneca Vaccine, Saint Lucia has revised the interval for the second dose, increasing it from 6 weeks to 8 weeks. This has been done given the increased effectiveness which results from a wider period of time for receiving the second dose. As such, people who received their vaccine at the beginning of the campaign shall receive the second dose as follows:

Individuals, who received the first dose of the vaccine from March 19, 2021 onwards, are asked to maintain the second dose appointment which they were given at the time of vaccination by the Health Care Provider.

The vaccination sites for receiving the second dose will be announced on a weekly basis.

As of Saturday April 17, 2021, a total of 23, 688 individuals have received their first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Ministry of Health reminds the public that vaccination is free and is administered on a voluntary basis.
