The ECCB has taken a turn towards environmentally friendly commercial activity through the issuance of a new suite of polymer notes.
At present currency in circulation throughout the Eastern Caribbean is printed on paper, with notes which have reached their maximum period of use disposed of through incineration.
According to Resident Representative of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank In St. Lucia Sharon Ferdinand, outside of the extended use of notes through the use of new material, several improvements have been made to improve the security of the new notes.
Ferdinand further touted the inclusion of tactile features to the new polymer notes, allowing individuals who are visually impaired to be fully immersed in the process of conducting transactions, safely.
