{"id":9430,"date":"2021-08-27T22:21:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-28T02:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/?p=9430"},"modified":"2021-08-27T22:28:07","modified_gmt":"2021-08-28T02:28:07","slug":"saint-lucia-captures-five-prestigious-british-chevening-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/saint-lucia-captures-five-prestigious-british-chevening-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Saint Lucia Captures Five Prestigious British Chevening Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9435\" src=\"https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2021-Chevening-Scholars.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2021-Chevening-Scholars.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2021-Chevening-Scholars-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2021-Chevening-Scholars-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2021-Chevening-Scholars-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 2021 Chevening Scholars for the Eastern Caribbean were officially announced yesterday by British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, His Excellency Scott Furssedonn-Wood.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen fully funded scholarships were awarded to successful candidates from Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to pursue Master\u2019s Degrees in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Lucia won five of these scholarships which were awarded to the following outstanding candidates: <strong>Yenver Caezar<\/strong>, London School of Economics and Political Science \u2013 pursuing Development Studies; <strong>Sherneil Charlery<\/strong>, Leeds Beckett University &#8211; pursuing studies in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics; \u00a0<strong>Lucius Doxerie<\/strong>, University of Bradford \u2013 pursuing studies in Economics and Finance for Development; <strong>Windia Jaunai<\/strong>, University of Leicester \u2013 pursuing studies in International Marketing; <strong>Chadel Mathurin<\/strong>, University College London \u2013 pursuing studies in Global Health and Development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saint Lucia\u2019s Resident British Commissioner, Lesley Saunderson<\/strong>, congratulated the scholars on being selected. She wished them safe travel and encouraged them to take advantage of not just the academic opportunity but also the cultural diversity that studying in the UK offers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, His Excellency Scott Furssedonn-Wood said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted to see the number of scholarships that continue to be awarded to the region each year. The wide array of successful scholars from Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean speaks to the depth of talent in this region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are someone who is interested in applying for Chevening, let this success be an encouragement to follow through on that desire; and submit your application before the deadline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Applications can be made for Chevening Scholarships at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chevening.org\/apply\">www.chevening.org\/apply<\/a> for the 2022 \u2013 2023 academic year.
