{"id":3588,"date":"2019-03-08T16:03:01","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T20:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kut.ofp.mybluehost.me\/?p=3588"},"modified":"2019-03-09T16:31:05","modified_gmt":"2019-03-09T20:31:05","slug":"chlorine-in-water-comes-into-focus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rcistlucia.com\/staging\/5763\/chlorine-in-water-comes-into-focus\/","title":{"rendered":"Chlorine usage in our water under investigation."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> Efforts in maintaining safety practices in water treatment e.g. using chlorine are expected to come under scrutiny in coming days, by officials of the Caribbean Water and Sewerage Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The utilization of chlorine in maintaining sources of potable water will come into focus, with a three-member team of trainers from the Chlorine Institute travelling to <a href=\"http:\/\/kut.ofp.mybluehost.me\/bomb-threat-update\/\">Saint Lucia<\/a> to conduct a series of training workshops for water and sewerage operators from the Caribbean, facilitated by the two organizations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/cawasa.org\/cawasa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"CAWASA (opens in a new tab)\">CAWASA<\/a> Mr Ignatius Jean explained the necessity for ensuring individuals employed within the industry remain informed on safety standards.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/rci-audio\/March-2019\/Ignatius+Jean+Clip+1.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption> <br>Executive Director of CAWASA Mr Ignatius Jean <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chlorine,\na powerful disinfectant and bleaching agent, is toxic substance that\npresents a number of hazards, if proper precautions are not taken \nwith serious injury, death a potential result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto Mr. Jean, while Chlorine is regulated under Pesticides and Toxic\nChemicals Control Act 2005, thus decreasing the likely hood of misuse\nby the general public, individuals employed within the industry may\nencounter hazards in the execution of duties. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/rci-audio\/March-2019\/Ignatius+Jean+Clip+2.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption> <br><em>Executive Director of CAWASA Mr Ignatius Jean <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The training sessions will be held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baygardensresorts.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Bay Gardens Inn (opens in a new tab)\">Bay Gardens Inn<\/a>, Rodney Bay and at WASCO\u2019s T.R.
