Orange Alert Issued in Grenada for Kick ‘Em Jenny Submarine Volcano
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) wishes to advise that the code orange alert that has been issued in Grenada refers to the Kick ‘Em Jenny volcano and not to the islands of the Eastern Caribbean.

Additionally, NEMO says there is no Tsunami Warning for Saint Lucia at this time.
An orange alert level remains in effect for the Kick ‘Em Jenny submarine volcano located approximately 8 km north of the island of Grenada.

25 Hotel and Tourism Workers to Receive $500 Bursday from National Workers Union
Twenty five (25) Hotel and Tourism Workers employed within eight (8) branches of the National Workers Union (NWU) will each receive a five hundred dollars ($500.00) Bursary from the NWU for their children.

This amount will be handed out to members of the union’s Tourism related branches who are currently financial members with a child entering Secondary school for the first time in September 2015. The payout comes from the NWU’s Education Fund to which hotel workers have made a significant contribution.

Officers of Central Fire Station Look Forward to Plans for Construction of New Headquarters
Officers attached to the Central Fire Station are looking forward to plans for the construction of a new headquarters, following the demolition of the old building on Jeremy Street.

The demolition project which was facilitated by the St Lucia Air and Sea Ports authority began last year. The building was vacated years before because of structural defects and other issues which impacted on the health of the officers.

Saint Lucia To Host Women’s Football Championship

The Saint Lucia Football Association is set to host international football again this month. Mindoo Phillip Park will be the venue for the Caribbean Zone Group 2 of the 2015 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship.

 

Grenada and Jamaica will be the other two participating teams. Jamaica will open against Grenada on 26 July. Saint Lucia start their campaign versus Grenada on 28 July, and the home team wraps up against Jamaica on 30 July.

Elite Youth Players Will Be Evaluated by Coaches From Manchester United and Dundee United Coaches

Elite under 15 footballers and their coaches from grassroots football programs who are a part of the northern High Performance Center (HPC) will get the opportunity to be coached and scouted by coaches from two major European clubs. The players and coaches will participate in a four day (4) camp starting on Monday July 13th at the SAB playing field. The facilitators for the camp are from Manchester United of the English Premier League and Dundee United which placed fifth (5th) in the Scottish Premier League.

The camp will include theoretical classroom sessions for the coaches followed by practical sessions involving the coaches and players. The aim of the coaching course is to provide the local coaches with methodologies and coaching strategies to develop elite youth players. For the youth players, the professional coaches will conduct evaluations of their technical abilities, fitness levels, understanding of the game and attitude towards the sport.

Former FIFA Vice President Charged in Cayman Islands Fraud Case
GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (CNS) -- The former FIFA vice president and Cayman Islands football boss, Jeffrey Webb, has been charged with fraud and breach of trust in relation to a local hospital card payment case.

Canover Watson and Miriam Rodrigues are also facing further charges in relation to the ongoing local investigation into the CarePay Card contract, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) said in a statement on Friday. While Watson and Rodrigues are expected to appear in court on Tuesday, a warrant has been issued for Webb’s arrest.
