Man Charged with Assault of Motor Vehicle

On Thursday, October 17, 2013, 24 year old Emron Jon of Belaire was charged for the offenses of Assault with a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Aiding and Abetting the offense of grievous harm.

He appeared before the First District Court in Castries on Friday, October 18, 2013.

John was arrested on Monday October 14, 2013 at the George FL Charles airport after he was returned to St. Lucia by local and regional authorities.

Vitalis appointed as St. Lucia's Non-Resident Ambassador to Petro Caribe and ALBA

Mr. Hippolyte Eustace Vitalis has been appointed to serve as St. Lucia's Non-Resident Ambassador to Petro Caribe and ALBA.

That's according to a release from the office of the Press Secretary to the Prime Minister.

It stated that Mr. Vitalis, who is an Agricultural Economist by training, is well versed in both Spanish and Portuguese, having studied in Cuba and Brazil.

Dengue Fever Alert for St. Lucia

Members of the public have been placed on high alert for the spread of dengue fever following a particular discovery by the Ministry of health.

According to Chief Medical officer Dr Merlene Fredericks, officials have discovered an increase in the number of reported cases here, which has triggered the alert. She pointed out that while there is an increase in reported cases it has not reached epidemic proportions. As a result members of the public are being urged to be cautious.

According to police reports, on Sunday, October 6, 2013, officers attached to the Drug Unit were summoned to the George F.L. Charles Airport, Vigie Castries by Customs Personnel.

Annual Yoplait Walk for Cancer to heighten awareness of one's lifestyle and life choices

An alignment of effort and agendas between the Saint Lucia Health & Wellness Retreat and the annual Yoplait Walk for Cancer aims to heighten awareness leading to behavior change in lifestyles and life choices. Importantly, integrating Health & Wellness Retreat participants with the mass resident crowd that is expected to turn out to walk for cancer will reinforce the message about cancer awareness.

Public Relations manager at the SLTB John Emmanuel says with the Health & Wellness Retreat coinciding with the Yoplait Walk, the partnership between the  Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB) with CFL, also leverages the promotional machinery of one event in support of the other.
