Cricket Commentator to Host "The Sports Center" on RCI

Noted Cricket Commentator and Sports Administrator Joseph Reds Pereira returns to radio when RCI’s Sports Center begins on Sunday.

The weekend show is expected to feature several aspects of various sporting disciplines prominently, in a fresh and exciting format. It will look at trending events as they happen, historical work and will keep associations on their toes.

Inmate Shot During Altercation at the Bordelais Correctional Facility

One of two inmates armed with prison made weapons at the Bordelais Correctional Facility has been shot by prison guards during an altercation with another individual.

According to Communications Officer at the prison, Kerwin Albert officials were forced to fire a live round at the inmate who had attempted to attack officials.

Power and Groovy Soca Preliminaries Explore Alternative Venues Due to Condition of Cultural Centre Grounds

Saturated conditions at the Cultural Centre grounds have forced organizers of the Power and groovy soca preliminaries explore alternative venues for the weekend show.

According to the Chairman on the Calypso management Committee Claude Paul, the Vigie Sports Complex car park has been earmarked for the event which takes place on Friday this week. It is being held free of charge to the public.

Ministry of Health and Local Groups Organise Anti-Substance Abuse March in Bexon

The Ministry of Health teamed up with local groups for an Anti-Substance Abuse March in the Bexon community.

It will take place on Saturday, 24th May, when the Substance Abuse Secretariat, Pathfinders Club and 7th Day Adventist Church came together to march against substance abuse in their community. The activity observed the theme "Tobacco – a threat to development" in keeping with this year’s commemoration of World No Tobacco Day on 31st May.
