US President Trump Announces Exit of the Paris Climate Agreement

A former Minister for Sustainable Development in the St Lucia Labour Party administration says the decision by United States President Donald Trump to withdraw from the Climate Change Paris Agreement is not surprising, but disappointing.

President Trump announced Thursday that his administration will exit the Paris climate agreement fulfilling a campaign promise and satisfying strong Republican opposition to the global climate deal. The Paris Climate Agreement is a pact between nearly 200 nations to voluntarily reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to fight climate change.

Take Over Village Opens

The Take Over Village opened the 2017 calypso season on a high at the national Cultural Centre.

According to organizers, the event exceeded expectations as a bumper crowd showed up to sample what has been described as a good balance of new offerings from some of the more established names in Kaiso as well as that of up and coming artistes.

Two St Lucians Added to West Indies Squad

Veteran Cricket commentator Joseph Reds Perierra has commented on news that two more St Lucian youngsters have been named on the West Indies squad.

Lee Solomon of the Corinth Secondary School and Gevin Serieux of the Micoud Secondary School have been named on the West Indies Under 16 squad in the England Tour.

Hurricane Season Begins

The National Emergency Management Organization has warned that the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season must not be used as a gauge for disaster preparedness.
