Preparations Underway for Common Entrance Exams

Preparations for the Common Entrance are on schedule ahead of the June 13th exam.

Word of this comes from the Registrar of Exams in the Ministry of Education Carmelita Matthew when over two thousand primary school students will be undergo the academic testing requirement for entry into secondary school.

West Indies Set to Play Against Afganistan in Three Match Series

West Indies Cricket team will come up against Afganistan and Pakistan in a three match ODI series which set to open in St Lucia on Friday this week.

According to the Marketing and Communications Manager for the West Indies Cricket Board Carols Beckford, the players are already on island ahead of the games scheduled for the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

LIAT Pilots are On Strike!

As a result the airline has advised the travelling public of industrial action by the members of the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA).

In the ongoing negotiations for higher wages, which includes the operation of the ATR aircraft, the pilots have taken action to refuse to fly the ATR 72 aircraft until an agreement is reached.

Contraband Recovered at Bordelais Correctional Facility

A total of two hundred and fifty-six (256) pieces of contraband were recovered during A comprehensive search conducted at the Bordelais Correctional Facility for contraband and other illegal substances.

The discovery included blades, Cannabis, lighters, weapons, chargers, phones, batteries, sim cards, pocket books, screws, nails, staple gun, chisel, tobacco, silver, and a phone case.

Saint Lucia to Observe World Environment Day

Saint Lucia joins the rest of the world in recognizing World Environment Day on June 5th, with a message from the island’s Minister for Sustainable Development.

Focusing on the theme Connecting People to Nature, Dr Gale Rigobert called on the public to recognize the uniqueness and the value of the natural beauty of the island and its fragility. She added that giving due consideration to the pillars of sustainable development, becomes more challenging with the onslaught of climate change and the many environmental hazards that facing the island.
