A decision by the Castries Constituencies Council to demolish the stall of a City vendor has been described as a breech in the laws of St Lucia.
The assertion comes from the President of the St Lucia Vendors Association Peter Ras Ipa Isaac, after the CCC destroyed a storage hut belonging to Josephine Burke on Jeremy Street last week.
Although Burke claims that she was not served prior notice by the Council, CCC Chairman Peterson Francis insists that due process was followed.
Speaking on the issue today Isaac stressed that the latest action is akin to an attack on vendors by the CCC.
Isaac describes as disturbing, the apparent combative posture taken by the CCC against vendors, from whom much of the Council’s earnings are collected.
